Thinking of Adopting?
Unlike dogs and cats, reptiles require specialized care and may not be suitable for everyone. The animals we have taken in have all either been abused in some way or given up because they were no longer wanted. These animals deserve the chance to live a long healthy life in a forever home. Therefore, all of our volunteers are dedicated to making sure these animals go to just right home, who is ready, willing and able to properly care for them for life.
ADOPTION PROCESS...
- Fill out an adoption application completely, your answers should include brands and as much info as possible.
- We will take a few days to check your application before we contact you to move forward.
- You will then be asked for photos of your current animals and enclosures and/or photos of the enclosure you plan to use for the new animal. This is how we do our virtual house checks now. It is important for us to see how you keep your current animals. No one will be approved without this step.
- Based on photos and application answers, you will be approved or denied.
- If approved, you MUST have a proper set up ready before taking home an animal.
- At adoption, you will need to sign the adoption contract which includes a NO BREEDING clause.
- There is an adoption fee to help with our expenses. The fee is listed on each animal's bio below.
- We are happy to adopt out of state but you MUST drive here to get the animal, no animals are ever shipped.
Sponsor one of our Adoptables
Choose the Sponsor Me button beside the animal. You can choose your monthly donation amount. Some of the animals who have been here a long time, have their own care fund. You will be sponsoring them by name. Other animals (such brand new residents) will have a link to our General Adoptable Animal Fund. You will be sponsoring an 'adoptable', not a specific animal. When you click on the link it will tell you if its for that specific animal or for our general care fund. Your sponsorship continues monthly until you cancel it. Or use the button here to make a one-time donation to be used for all the rescue animal care needs.

Basilisk
Unsexed Wild Caught Basilisk This poor lizard got shipped to NC in a truck full of plants. He lost his tail along the way and is terrified of people. Since Basilisk's are invasive to Florida, it is illegal to send him back home. We have no clue on the age or sex. He eats insects, although he won't let you see him eat yet, and his tail is regrowing nicely. He would do better with an experienced owner.

Wyatt
Male Green Iguana This little guy was abandoned in a hotel in Wilmington. He was left behind in a 10 gallon tank with improper lights. He came with a lump on his chin which is resolving over time. Fortunately, he does not have any signs of MBD from improper care. We do believe he is a male but he is still very young. As with all these cute little iguanas, he will get very large.
All iguanas - All are used to living in a cage of at least 4 x 4 x 8 ft tall with high humidity. These conditions must be met in order to be considered for adoption. All iguanas are healthy as far as we know but due to prior care issues, they may develop problems as they age. Birth date: Approx 2021, here since 11/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Isabella
Female Green Iguana This beautiful adult female iguana was originally the pet of an older gentleman who passed away. His wife turned her in to us back in 2015! Since then she has thrived in our care and gained a ton of weight. She is a fairly large iguana and still not that old.

Sasha
Female Green Iguana Sasha has been here a while. She is female and probably about 6 years old or more. She was taken off the adoption list when she was attacked by a male looking to mate. She has fully recovered and only shows some scarring on her face from the attack. She does not trust other iguanas now but would be happy to settle in to a 1-iguana household. She is probably our friendliest iguana (towards humans anyway!)

Rollo
Male Green Iguana Found in an abandoned apartment, Rollo was originally turned in to a vet's office. Unfortunately, Rollo has never warmed up to becoming a pet. He is young and his hormones get the better of him usually. We're hoping as he ages, he will calm down. He will require an experienced owner and possibly even neutering. It has been shown in some young males to help with aggression.

Little Red
Male Red Iguana Little Red is a red morph green iguana. He is definitely all male with LOTS of male attitude, and life is still very scary for this little one. But with patience and handling this little one should grow up to be a beautiful companion. It's hard to tell in the photos but this little one has actually lost most of it's spikes. We don't know what happened to them but they show no signs of growing back. Little Red really needs a lot of handling work, but he's at the perfect age for it!

Draco
Male Green Iguana Draco is a gorgeous male ready for adoption. He came in from a young lady in Raleigh who is off to school. He is healthy and eats well. He is very good with his tail and spooks easily but with consistent attention and patience, he should warm up to being a pet once again. Once he knows you, he will let you pet him. Draco is about 7-8 years old.

Wild Man
Green Iguana In all honesty, I do not know if this is Wild Man or Wild Woman, but I'm leaning towards male. This poor baby was wild caught in Florida and brought up here to be used for a purpose that would have resulted in death. A concerned family member turned him in to us. He has no handling experience. He still runs and hides if you get too close. But he is also very young and with the right person he could be tamed down into a pet.

Verde
Baby Green Iguana This little one was ordered online and surrendered 3 days later. He is little more than a hatchling but looks to male so far. Still needs time for taming and work with handling. At this age, they are scared of everything. Eats well. Can start off in a smaller enclosure but he is going to get very large just like all the others. (There is nothing wrong with his spine, he was just sitting odd in this photo - he still bolts when I try to get a photo)

Dimitri
Baby Green Iguana This little cutie came to us at a few months old. He is all boy and doesn't trust humans yet. But he is young enough to work with and looks healthy. Of course these baby iguanas can and should start in a smaller cage but they are going to get very large just like the others and will need a very large enclosure soon. He is already in one of our medium enclosures.

Baby
Baby Green Iguana This poor baby came in with a swollen jaw, which is one of the first signs of MBD in an iguana. Her jaw is healed and she is gaining a ton of weight, but her bottom jaw is shorter than it should be. She is under a year still but looking female. She doesn't like being picked up and is good with her tail but should do well with consistent handling.

Grinch
Green Iguana Grinch is a young iguana but definitely male. He came to us with his friends when his parents went overseas. He is bright green and if he likes you, he'll let you pet him with no issue. Some people he just doesn't like. He is an amazing eater and growing like crazy.

Odin
Male Green Iguana Odin is about 3 years old. He is in his first season and a bit freaked out that he's in a new place. But with time, just like most males, he will settle in and calm down. Only time will tell if he calms down into a pet.
All iguanas - All are used to living in a cage of at least 4 x 4 x 8 ft tall with high humidity. These conditions must be met in order to be considered for adoption. Blue
Male Green Iguana Blue is a blue morph green iguana. He is about 6 years old and on the small side. Many blues stay smaller. He is all male and thinks he's the boss! He can coexist with a female but he gets somewhat aggressive with her in season. He loses a lot of his blue color during breeding season also. He eats well and loves to sun himself outside. He generally handles well.
All iguanas - All are used to living in a cage of at least 4 x 4 x 8 ft tall with high humidity. These conditions must be met in order to be considered for adoption. Midas
Unsexed This little one came in with some leopard geckos. The owner had said they were all over 10 years old but I never got a full surrender sheet filled out on them. I have not sexed this one, nor do I handle him. He's very quick and prefers to be left alone. He has not been aggressive at all. You must have experience with this type of gecko to be considered for adoption.
Birth date: Possibly 2010, here since 4/2020 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
#37
Female Leopard Gecko Part of the large group of geckos from a hoarding situation in GA. We have no history or age on these geckos but all appear healthy and normal. They came from racks and deserve larger enclosures with proper UVB and heat. They really deserve a bioactive, naturally decorated enclosure. 37 handles well and eats any insect you offer.
Birth date: Unknown, here since 7/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |

Male Leopard Gecko Gizmo came to us with an eye infection and not wanting to eat. He is about 2.5 years old and a very healthy size. His eyes are all headed up but he has not wanted to hunt his own food yet. However, due to his size we are not concerned with his eating habits yet.
Birth date: Approx 2019, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Sandman
Male Leopard Gecko Sandman came to us with an eye infection in both eyes and very skinny. His eyes are better and he will eat by tongs. He will not hunt food yet and absolutely wont touch black solider fly larva LOL. We're still working on getting his tail fatter but overall he is doing very well.
Birth date: Approx 2018, here since 12/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |

Male Leopard Gecko Mushu is about 5 years old. His owner had to move back onto base where they don't allow reptiles so Mushu and his 'siblings' all came here. He is a great weight and always ready for any insect you offer.
Birth date: 9/2017, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Merida
Female Leopard Gecko Merida is a beautiful orange colored, female leopard gecko with the most amazing silver eyes. She came with Mushu but is only 2 years old. She also loves any insect.

Birth date: 4/2021, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Spot
Male Leopard Gecko Spot and Pocket came to us together. The mother and daughter who had them previously saved them from death. When they got them they were emaciated with severe MBD. They got them eating again and even got a little weight on them. Neither can walk properly on the front legs but they have no problem getting around and climbing into their little log. They have been separated because they will fight over food. Both hunt with no problem and love all insects. Spot is the male.
Birth date: Approx 2020, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Pocket
Female Leopard Gecko Pocket and Spot came to us together. The mother and daughter who had them previously saved them from death. When they got them they were emaciated with severe MBD. Buddy
Male Bearded Dragon As much as we love Buddy, I have to admit he is a bit of a grouch. Buddy has been here twice now. He is one of the very few animals we've ever had returned. His owners had some changes in their life and could no longer care for him. When he came the first time, the owner did not know his age and had gotten him from someone else, so Buddy has now been to live with at least 3 homes that we know about. He eats well (although prefers his insects to salad!), active, and had a small portion of his tail missing. He does not like to see other beardies. But we think Buddy won't be so grouchy when he finally finds his forever home!
Birth date: Unknown, originally arrived 6/2020, came back in 12/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Nuggie
Male Bearded Dragon Nuggie is a very sweet male bearded dragon, just about 1.5 years old. However, he does have health issues. He has early stages of MBD and his jaw is a bit soft. He is eating the softer insects on his own but he still needs extra supportive care as he continues to improve. With the correct lighting and diet he will continue to get stronger and eat better. Unfortunately as with all cases of MBD, even when he gets better, the damage could lead to future health issues. So it will always be something you need to watch. Fortunately he does not have deformities besides being a little small and really should make a great recovery
Nuggie will need someone experienced who can make sure he gets everything he needs to stay strong. He currently needs to be hand fed to make sure he gets enough. Birth date: Approx 5/2020, here since 12/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Draco
Female Bearded Dragon Draco needs a home where she can live out her senior years in peace and comfort. This big girl is over 8 years old already. She is little picky on food since she was raised on a dry diet. But she loves to chase after insects.

Birth date: 2014, here since 5/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |

Scully
Male Ball Python Scully is only a few months old and is a male ball python. He came to use because he essentially has scoliosis of his spine. He has a kink in his lower spine that he was born with and will never get any better. It doesn't bother him at all, doesn't seem to cause any pain or stop him from moving and eating. Best case scenario is that the kink seems to lessen at he grows, but it will always be there and there is no guarantee it won't cause issues when he's older and heavier.
Birth date: 2021, here since 9/2021 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Apollo
Male Ball Python Apollo and Athena were brought to us in 2020. They both have 'bubbles' of fluid under their skin. Apollo is by far the worst. These snakes have seen the vet. We've tried antibiotics and experimental remedies. We drain the bubbles but they just come back again. It is clear watery liquid. It does not bother the snakes, and has not affected their appetite or movement at all. They aren't great at striking their prey sometimes but they do love to eat. They have gained weight while here and are normal in every other way. Apollo's bubbles have expanded slightly since he has been here, while Athena's seem to be a little smaller.
***HEALTH ALERT: The cause of these fluid bubbles is unknown but has not shown to be contagious or otherwise impacting their health. You will need to drain them occasionally and they will likely be a lifelong deformity.**** Birth date: 3/2019, here since 12/2020 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Athena
Female Ball Python Apollo and Athena were brought to us in 2020. They both have 'bubbles' of fluid under their skin. Athena has a much smaller area of fluid than her brother Apollo. Athena's bubbles have not gotten worse, they may have actually shrunk slightly since she has been here.
Vadar
Male Mojave Ball Python Vadar is still pretty small but we don't have an exact age. He is a male and is used to eating live rodents. He has not been happy about F/T so far but he has finally begun to take them. He can be a little nippy at times but usually handles well.
***KEEP IN MIND WE HAVE A NO BREEDING CONTRACT. These animals are pets only and will not be adopted for breeding. **** Adoption Fee: $100 Location: North Carolina |
Almond
Ball Python Almond and Pecan were brought to us by a good Samaritan who found them left behind in a rental home. Thankfully she also found their food still in the freezer so she took them in, gave them a meal and found us. Almond is a possible female, sex unconfirmed.
Birth date: Approx 2020 or 2021, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |

Birth date: Unknown, here since 1/2022 Adoption Fee: $50 Location: North Carolina |
Stubbs
Corn Snake Stubbs is a wild corn snake that was found in a shipment. While he could survive here in the wild, animals from other locations should never be released into the wild. His name is Stubbs because he is missing the tip of tail. He is an unconfirmed male. Due to being wild he is a little defensive but is taking frozen thawed rodents and getting used to handling.

Alice Cooper
Boa Constrictor There is no photo good enough to show you the size of Alice Cooper. He is one of the largest boas we have ever seen and will need at least an 8ft enclosure, larger would be better. Alice is very special to us as he has been here for almost 2 years since his owner passed away. As much as we love Alice, he is too large to be used for education. He can also be moody at times and will happily let you know when today is not a good day to touch. We really want him to go to a home that is going to spoil him and give him more attention. The family of his previous owner had no age information on him and sex is unconfirmed. Boas are not a restricted species in most NC counties but due to his size, he may not be legal in all counties. We will confirm you are allowed to own a snake of this size before adoption.

Rita
Burmese Python Rita was caught in the wild in Florida and brought up to NC to be a pet, however the owner decided she was more than he could handle. Rita is about 1.5 years old and despises all humans lol. She needs a LOT of handling training by someone who isnt afraid to get peed on. This is NOT the snake for a first time burm owner. Burmese pythons are listed under Article 55 and not legal in all NC counties. We will confirm you can legally have a burmese before adoption.

Jade
Female Chinese Water Dragon Jade came in because her family couldn't devote the time a Chinese Water Dragon really needs. She is still super young and small but should be female. She seems healthy but she's still scared of her surroundings so she spends a lot of time hiding. She loves insects and is getting better with people but still doesn't want to be held.

Midas
Gold Tegu Midas was purchased at a reptile show and surrendered to us a few days later. He is only a few months old and too young to sex properly. His current diet is insects and fuzzy mice but likes fingers more! He is super tiny and has a lot of growing to do but gold tegus are small even when full grown and less social than other tegus. You must understand the species before applying for this animal. He is going to take a lot of time and patience to gain trust with handling. He is very active and will soon need a large enclosure with plenty of exercise outside the enclosure.
