Thinking of Adopting?
Unlike dogs and cats, reptiles require specialized care and may not be suitable for everyone. The animals we have taken in have all either been abused in some way or given up because they were no longer wanted. These animals deserve the chance to live a long healthy life in a forever home. Therefore, all of our volunteers are dedicated to making sure these animals go to just right home, who is ready, willing and able to properly care for them for life.
Some Things You Need to Know...
- We will make sure you know how to care for the pet you want to adopt.
- We do not allow breeding of our animals.
- You MUST have a proper set up ready before taking home an animal.
- You do need to fill out an adoption application completely, your answers should include brands and as much info as possible.
- You will need to sign the adoption contract.
- We do require house checks, either in person or virtually.
- There is an adoption fee to help with our expenses and weed out those people just looking for a free animal.
Sponsor one of our Adoptables with the link below. Choose which species and then type in the name of the animal. Once they are adopted, you will be unsubscribed and receive notice of the happy news!

Isabella
Female Green Iguana This beautiful adult female iguana was originally the pet of an older gentleman who passed away. His wife turned her in to us. Since then she has thrived in our care and gained a ton of weight. She is a fairly large iguana and still on the young side. She has successfully laid several clutches so with proper care her risk of egg binding should be minimal.
All iguanas - Iguanas cannot be shipped. All are used to living in a cage of at least 4 x 4 x 8 ft tall with high humidity. These conditions must be met in order to be considered for adoption. All iguanas are healthy as far as we know but due to prior care issues, they may develop problems as they age. Adoption Fee: $50 |
Sasha
Female Green Iguana Sasha has been here a while. She is female and probably about 6 years old or so. She was taken off the adoption list recently when she was attacked by a male looking to mate. She has fully recovered and only shows some scarring on her face from the attack. She does not trust other iguanas now but would be happy to settle in to a 1-iguana household. She is probably our friendliest iguana (towards humans anyway!)

Rollo
Male Green Iguana Found in an abandoned apartment, Rollo was originally turned in to a vet's office. Unfortunately, Rollo has never warmed up to becoming a pet. He is young and his hormones get the better of him usually. We're hoping as he ages, he will calm down. He loves being in his outdoor enclosure. He will require an experienced owner and possible even neutering. It has been shown in some young males to help with aggression.

Little Red
Male Red Iguana Little Red is a red iguana who is likely about a year old. He is definitely all male with lots of male attitude, and life is still very scary for this little one. But with patience and handling this little one should grow up to be a beautiful companion. It's hard to tell in the photos but this little one has actually lost most of it's spikes. We don't know what happened to them but they show no signs of growing back. Little Red really needs a lot of hands on work, but he's at the perfect age for it!

Draco
Male Green Iguana Draco is new to the rescue and ready for adoption. He came in from a young lady in Raleigh who is off to school. He doesn't seem very happy to be here yet but he is healthy and eats well. He is very good with his tail but with consistent attention and patience, he should warm up to being a pet once again. Draco is about 7-8 years old.

Lamar
Male Green Iguana I've debated long and hard about putting Lamar up for adoption because he's just such a special boy. He loves being in the iguana building with access to the outdoor cage. He's extremely friendly and willing to be a house pet as long as he still gets some outside time. He has done events with us and is always well-behaved. Lamar is about 6-7 years old.

Rica
Female Green Iguana Rica has been here quite some time. She came in as Rico, a male, when she was very young and has since successfully laid several very large clutches of eggs. It took a while for her to recover from the last clutch which has left me worried about her overall health and questioning if she should be spayed for the future to avoid any issues. As you can see from her dirty face, she never turns down a meal. She did come in with a burn to the back of her neck which resulted in a loss of spikes that have never regrown. She has spent some time as a house pet and did fine, she has also spent some time out in the iguana building with Lamar and done well out there also. We pet her often but she isn't too fond of being held. I think she could learn to be a great house pet again with patience.

Wild Man
Green Iguana In all honesty, I do not know if this is Wild Man or Wild Woman, but I'm leaning towards male. This poor baby was wild caught in Florida and brought up here to be used for a purpose that would have resulted in death. A concerned family member turned him in to us and he know lives with our other wild caught iguana. He has no handling experience and still looks rather skinny. I have not tried to sex or do too much with him because he is just so scared. But he is also very young and with the right person he could be tamed down into a pet.

Verde
Baby Green Iguana This little one was ordered online and surrendered 3 days later. Way too young to tell the sex he is little more than a hatchling. Still needs time for taming but not too hard to get your hands on and ok so far once you do. Eats well. Can start off in a smaller enclosure but he is going to get very large just like all the others.

Roxy
Baby Green Iguana This tiny baby was surrender by a military family. She is too young to tell for sure if male or female. She is a little shy but generally lets you pick her up so handling training shouldn't be difficult.

Dimitri
Baby Green Iguana This little cutie is less than a year old. Too young to tell the sex and at the age where she doesn't trust humans yet. But she is young enough to work with and looks healthy. Of course these baby iguanas can and should start in a smaller cage but they are going to get very large just like the others and will need a very large enclosure soon.

Baby Iguana #1
Baby Green Iguana AVAILABLE SOON AFTER SOME FURTHER REHAB This poor baby came in with a swollen jaw, which is one of the first signs of MBD in an iguana. She has done her meds and the swelling has gone down by at least half. Hopefully with continued proper care the jaw will look close to normal as she grows. She is under a year for sure and too young to sex. She doesn't like being picked up but is used to it from having to take meds.

Burlap
Female Red Iguana Burlap was brought to us all the way from near Charlotte. Her former owner took good care of her and she handles very well. She is used to free roaming which can be done only if you give them their own room with proper heat, humidity, and basking areas. If in an enclosure she requires a comfy hammock!

Grinch
Green Iguana AVAILABLE AFTER 3/13/21 Grinch is a young iguana but definitely male. He came to us with his friends when his parents went overseas. He does need to put on some weight. I'm also watching a curve in his spine, he can straighten all the way but often curves when sitting. This could be an early sign of MBD but hopefully we can correct it before it becomes a true deformity. He will spend some time in rehab but is well-handled and a bright green.

Golden Gecko
Unsexed This little one came in with some other leopard geckos. The owner had said they were all over 10 years old but I never got a full surrender sheet filled out on them. I have not sexed this one, nor do I handle him. He's very quick and prefers to be left alone. He has not been aggressive at all. You must have experience with this type of gecko to be considered for adoption.

Judy
Female Bearded Dragon Judy is supposed to be about 2 years old but she is very small for her age. She also has a lump on her tail which is a sign of early MBD. With the right care, you can stop the progression of disease but you can never reverse the damage already done. Judy's lump has not changed much since she got here but she has gotten larger than we thought she would. She is very active and loves her insects! She will also let you know when she is not amused with you!

Spike
Male Bearded Dragon Spike is a big boy who is currently brumating. He is not crazy about change but usually settles in pretty quickly. He does not eat his salad that well but loves superworms. He is a good size boy.

Adoption Fee: $50 |
Papaya
Bearded Dragon Papaya came in when her owner passed away. She does have a hump in her spine and some curve of the tail, which is a sign of MBD. However, it does not hinder her in anyway and if given proper care it should not progress. MBD can be stopped but the deformities can never be reversed. She is always up for food and attention, but she will bully another bearded dragon if given the chance. We do not have an age on her but she is on the smaller side and will likely stay that way.
Adoption Fee: $50 |
Leonardis

Ball Python
Female Ball Python This little lady spent time with us gaining weight. She is looking so much better and is ready for her forever home. We have no problem with handling once she is out and she usually takes her food without hesitation. She does believe she should be fed every time you open the enclosure though lol. She needs someone who will give her a name.

Female Chinese Water Dragon Jade came in because her family couldn't devote the time a Chinese Water Dragon really needs. She is still super young and small but should be female. She seems healthy but she's still scared of her new surroundings so she spends a lot of time hiding. She eats a ton and is getting better with people.

Manny
Savannah Monitor Manny “The Monitor” is appoximately 3 years old. He was rescued in March of 2018 from a hoarding situation. He was in very poor health and malnourished, so he spent most of his time at an animal hospital to get bigger and stronger. He shocked everyone in the beginning and pulled through! He has continued to grow and thrive for the last 3 years. He has been handled quite a bit and tends to know the difference between food items and humans “as much as a monitor can ;)”. He is now looking for a more permanent and appropriate long term living situation. He would need a human who is very experienced in reptile care, preferably with monitors specifically, as they are special little creatures. He has specific husbandry needs, including a very large enclosure and appropriate heat/light sources. His main food item of choice is large “live” Dubia Roaches, with a few other food items here and there. He really enjoys soaking and basking. He also was trained at a young age to walk using a reptile harness so he could be supervised for his exercise (it’s quite adorable.) He is an established patient at Paws and Claws Animal Hospital and the doctor’s and vet assistants would be happy to continue his vet care for his new owner. If interested, please contact the rescue and we will be in touch about adoption approvals. Manny thanks you in advance!

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVAILABLE ANIMALS
Vitali
Male Bearded Dragon Vitali has a lot of personality for a beardie who is only 8 months old! He is every bit of a teenager giving attitude and showing off but he does love watching a good show with his humans. He is looking for a home who will give him lots of socialization and not just keep him up in a tank all day, he thrives on this and will get very moody if he is not handled often enough. He is very picky about eating if he isn't getting his favorite foods and he needs a home that can accommodate that. He is not a good candidate for young children.
Adoption Fee: $50 |
