There are many ways you can volunteer with Fresh Start Rescue, Inc. We need people who can clean cages, feed animals, help teach classes, work community events, and help with special projects such as landscaping, building enclosures, electrical, plumbing, hvac, painting, and more. We can also use help with fundraising and soliciting corporate donations. All volunteers are required to put in at least ONE shift at the rescue located near Wallace, NC every month. There may be some exceptions for volunteers who only want to work on special projects on an as-needed basis. Volunteers must be 16 years old with signed parental permission, or 13 years old with a parent present at all times.

FRESH START RESCUE, INC VOLUNTEER RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Please note that volunteers work with the animals at their OWN RISK.

  • Exotic animals can be dangerous, and all safety precautions must be adhered to at all times. There are very strict rules when it comes to handling animals or opening enclosures. You must follow all rules and adhere to all warning signs on enclosures. While we do not work with venomous animals, some can still be very dangerous.

  • You may tell people you volunteer with Fresh Start Rescue, Inc, help spread the word about our rescue, and work shows/events.

  • You may not represent yourself as a rescue partner or take in pets without the permission of a rescue officer.

  • You may not charge veterinary care to our account or solicit donations in our name without knowledge of board member.

  • When working an event, a Fresh Start Rescue Inc shirt must be worn. You may purchase your own shirt on our website.

  • Children under 10 are prohibited from attending events.

  • Volunteers must be 13 with a parent or guardian present at all times. At 16, a minor can be here with signed parental permission. Parents will be asked to sign a different waiver form at the minor child’s first shift.

  • There is no workers compensation or medical insurance available as a volunteer of Fresh Start Rescue Inc. All injuries and medical expenses must be paid for by the volunteer or filed under your personal insurance if necessary.

  • If safety precautions are followed, injuries should never happen.
